Listen people-HILLARY CLINTON CAN'T WIN THE GENERAL ELECTION!!!
Stop thinking that it's possible, it isn't. Her negatives are already so high and will even go higher if she becomes the nominee and the Republicans go after her, especially with it looking like McCain will be the nominee. He is moderate enough to put California in play and if he wins that, Hillary's tearing up will turn into an all out tantrum.
Well, I'm wondering if this is a smart post to make considering that much of the liberal blogosphere supports John Edwards. But, I have to do it anyway. To be candid, I am a supporter of Barack Obama. However, he is trailing Hillary in Iowa and in national polls. I do realize that Hillary is not the preferred candidate of the blogs and that Obama would be viewed by most on here as a better choice.
That being said, the only way I see a Democratic nominee other than Hillary is for John Edwards to exit the race-and soon. If Edwards decides he is not running, much of his support will shift to Obama because they are more aligned politically and are viewed as more electable than Hillary. Many conservative Democrats in the mountain west, for example, are very uncertain of Hillary.
Is this weather creeping anyone else out or is it just me? The Washington DC area has never had as much rain in a single week as we are currently experiencing, including rain resulting from hurricanes. This won't be a scientific post at all, but more of a plug for Gore's new movie. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0497116/
Check it out... and act. The flooding that we're experiencing right now is in my opinion, a precursor to the effects of global warming. Critics argue that this rain is actually cooling this area right now, but fail to realize that the major challenges of global warming are the unpredictable and extreme weather patterns that are created through this imbalance in our environment.
OHIO - GOVERNOR: Congressman Ted Strickland (D) - 53%, Secretary of State Ken Blackwell (R) - 37%, retired professor Bill Peirce (Libertarian) - 2%, progressive activist Bob Fitrakis (Green) - 1%. (WCPO-TV/SurveyUSA).
OHIO - US SENATE: Congressman Sherrod Brown (D) - 48%, US Senator Mike DeWine (R) - 39%. (WCPO-TV/SurveyUSA).
Has Ohio come to its senses? As a recent resident of Ohio, I have can only deduce that the majority of Ohioans have realized that Republicans don't stand for their values and that Democrats will do a better job of listening to them. There seems to be a case of buyer's remorse going on in the state that has the lowest gubernatorial approval rating in the country and voted for Bush by a slim margin in 2004.
I can only hope that those voters have realized their mistakes and want to rectify them. The face of the Ohio Democratic party is changing. Soon there will be a Democratic Senator and Governor. This hopefully will prove to other Midwestern states that Democrats can win elections and then govern and legislate effectively once in office.
